Be Kind to Yourself With These 3 Self-Care Routines.

·

Let’s face it: Life is challenging right now. We’re in survival mode, which means sometimes we forget to practice self-care.

You might be thinking, “Self-care?! Why should I worry about self-care right now??”

We get it. Self-care is something fancy influencers Instagram about, but in truth, there are many important benefits of self-care.

Self-care is about slowing down, checking in with yourself, and taking the necessary steps to make sure you’re happy and healthy.
And right now, that’s more important than ever.

Here’s how to start your self-care routine.

  1. Schedule some “me” time: We know that with a full household it’s sometimes difficult to find quality alone time. Well, now’s a good opportunity to prioritize the value of “me” time. Find a time during the day—whether it’s 7AM, 3PM, or 10PM—that works for you and let your family know this is the time to leave you alone. No interruptions. Maybe you can only afford 30 minutes off—that’s ok. This is the time for you to read that book that’s been sitting on your nightstand, listen to a podcast, drink coffee alone on the patio, or go for a solo walk in a safe area. You, and everyone in your family, deserve a little break sometimes.

  2. Step away from your computer: With many of us now working from home, we are spending more time on our computers, phones and iPads. These devices are vital, as they help keep us connected to our community and our workplace, BUT it’s important to step away once in a while. Not only can the internet overwhelm us with 24/7 news and social media, but sitting at a computer for hours on end is not good for our eyes, posture, and overall health. Taking breaks from sitting can help boost energy and creativity too. Your mind and body need a break several times throughout the day.

  3. Take a bath: Ok—this one might seem obvious, but when was the last time you enjoyed a long, relaxing bath? Now is a great time to indulge in one. Why? Because having an evening routine where you take a bath, do a skin care routine, and slip out of your day clothes and into something more relaxing will help you wind down and get a good night’s sleep. It’s a cue for your mind to get out of work mode and into rest & relaxation mode. Once you’re out of your bath, wrap yourself in a JMK robe for some relaxation. Take the time to do a face or hair mask too. Even if you only do this once a week, you’ll definitely thank us later.

During this unprecedented time, be sure to treat your mind and body to the love and care they deserve.
