How to Get Your Day Started on the Right Foot

·

Now that many of us are working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re finding that getting the day started can be a little challenging. With our schedules now completely out of whack, it’s easy to watch our mornings slip away before we get anything accomplished.

If you’re wanting to start a healthy and happy morning routine, you’ve come to the right place. In this article, we’ll share tips on how to get your morning started on the right foot.

  1. Stretch that body of yours: You know how your dog or cat stretches their body after waking up? They do it for a reason—it gets the blood flowing and the joints moving. Starting your morning with a stretch regime helps alleviate any aches or pains from sleeping, and it increases blood flow to the rest of the body. If stretching isn’t your thing—walking, jogging, or other exercise can help manage blood sugar, improve your mental health, and improve your sleep—all things that ensure you’ll have a great day.
  2. Eat & drink right: You’ve probably heard the old adage “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!” The reality is breakfast isn’t necessary for everyone. It doesn’t actually kick-start your metabolism, and for those who do well with intermittent fasting, forgoing breakfast can help with weight loss. However, if you enjoy a nice meal in the morning, it’s important to eat the right foods. Breakfast foods that are high in sugar such as certain cereals, muffins, yogurt, and donuts can cause weight gain, sluggishness, and increased risk of developing diabetes or heart disease. Before your reach for your Fruit Loops, consider eating fruits, oatmeal, an egg omelet with veggies, or nuts. Protein or nutrient-rich foods like the ones above help regulate your blood sugar and keep you full without bringing your energy levels down. Oh, and don’t forget the coffee or tea! Both are packed with antioxidants and help you stay energized and lower your risk of heart disease.
  3. Get out of your PJs and brush your teeth: We know this sounds like a no-brainer, but since many of us are working remotely, we might not be as motivated to groom ourselves in the morning. Believe it or not—forgetting to put on day clothing and brushing your teeth are real struggles for folks who work from home. Staying in your sleep wear leaves you feeling unmotivated and a little smelly. If you’re looking for beautiful day clothing that is still comfy, you’ll love our bright and cheery Sunrise Robe. This satin robe is a great choice when sipping your morning coffee or responding to emails. (Maybe not for Zoom calls though.)

Whatever you do for your morning routine, we hope it brings you joy and creativity.
